Obituary of Robert David Brusby

On Friday, April 24, 2021, Robert David Brusby, 67, of Placerville, California, suffered a stroke, and within hours walked joyously through Heaven’s gates and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. Robert was born on February 16, 1954 to Bob and Shirley (Ratcliffe) Brusby. He has two children, Christopher and Elisa, born from his first marriage. On March 6, 1982, Robert married Kellee Head Brusby. They raised six children together: four sons, Steven, Justin, Garret, and Trevor, and two daughters, Tamee and Karyn. Robert owned and operated his own company, R & K Landscape Maintenance for 12 years in California, then moved to the mid-west and worked as a farmhand for 4 years. In 1997, he became a self-taught and very competent IT specialist, and was always generous with helping friends solve their computer troubles. This new occupation led him to take a new job in Virginia in 2006. In 2017, he moved back to California, and settled in Placerville. He was a loving husband and father who worked very hard to provide for his family until the very end. He also will be sadly missed by those who called him, “Grampa”. This meek and unassuming man found delight in watching the sun rise in the mornings, and also had a special fondness for birds. He fed the wild ones, and his pet cockatiel, “Peaches”, will sorely miss him. Robert came to know Jesus as his Savior 1 week after his 23rd birthday. He endeavored to live his life pleasing to God yet did not fully recognize the unconditional and immense love the Father had for him until a life-saving heart operation in 2004. While recovering flat on his back, he finally realized and accepted the fact that God loved HIM as much as He loved His own son, Jesus! Accepting and believing this gave Robert the strength, confidence and peace to continue on until Jesus said, “It’s time, you can retire now.” Since his last years were filled with physical pain, he had been looking forward to that day for a long time. He is now free from that, and full of joy! Robert is survived by his parents, wife, eight children, and 20 grandchildren; Timothy, Jared, Wyatt, Kelson, Nani, Arden, Brennan, Jenna, Dylan, Thayer, Kensi, Rhonwen, Blaire, Lorelei, Laurel Kaede, Grady, Ryvian, Cormac, Declan, and one he never met who will join our family in November. Also, by sisters Debra and Cheryl and brother, Mark, and cousins, nieces, and nephews. And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died[a] so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
