Obituary of Shannon "Shay" Christine Long

Shannon “Shay” Christine Long, 46, passed away on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, at Sutter Medical Center in Roseville, California. She was born on April 27th, 1975, to Gary Anderson and Sheri Reed at Coquille Hospital in Coquille, Oregon, and grew up in the Myrtle Point, Oregon area. Soulmates and best friends, Shannon and Marc Long were married in 2001 eventually became the proud parents of two daughters, Mikaylah and Stormi, and one son, Jonathan. Shannon and Marc enjoyed exploring together and would plan trips on a whim to discover historic areas and places they hadn’t yet seen together. After moving to El Dorado from Chandler, Arizona almost two years ago, Shannon was enjoying their new property and all the fun that came with it. She enjoyed cultivating her garden and tending to the chickens, while also finding time to fish and hunt. A true animal lover at heart, the family had just welcomed a new puppy, Bella, an English Mastiff, into the home days before Shannon’s passing. Her family finds comfort in the fact that Shannon was happy before she left them. Shannon is survived by her husband Marc Long, daughters, Mikaylah Hammontree and Stormi Long, and son, Jonathan Parker, her mother Sheri and sister Jessica Coleman. Shannon was a proud Certified Nursing Assistant in the healthcare system and will continue to give to others even after her passing. Shannon gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation, her selfless gift has saved three lives already and will continue to assist and live on in 60 other recipients. A Celebration of Life and spreading of Shannon’s ashes will take place in August of 2022, in Depoe Bay, OR.
