Obituary of Elton Willard Bartel

     Elton Willard Bartel passed away on August 13^th, 2022, at his sister’s home in Placerville, CA. He was 89 years old.

     Elton was born on January 29^th, 1933, in South San Francisco, CA, to his late parents Henry and Lillian (Halcrow) Bartel. He was the 4^th born out of 7 children. He attended San Mateo High School in San Mateo, CA. As a young man he worked for United Airlines at the San Francisco International Airport. In his 30’s he started Bartel’s Window Cleaning and continued working for approximately 40 years.

     Elton met and married Bobbie Lee Cauldwell on October 15^th, 1978, in Reno, NV. Bobbie passed away on September 12^th, 1994, at the age of 54. They had one child, a son, Elton Henry Bartel born on March 29^th, 1973. “Henry,” as he was called, passed away on January 5^th, 2005, at the age of 31. Henry had a daughter, Vanessa Lillian Bartel, Elton’s grandchild, was born on November 30^th, 1993. Vanessa passed away on August 29^th, 2020, at the age of 26. Vanessa had a daughter, Elton’s great granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Binderup, born October 30, 2012.

     Elton was a hard worker and a family man. He enjoyed going to the gym and traveling. He went on a few cruises with his lady friends. Elton loved dancing He belonged to a variety of single dance clubs: Riverbank Golden Ages Dance Club, Stockton Singles INC., Modesto Tradition Jazz Society, The Forever Young Senior Dance Club, The Moose Club, and The Elks Club of San Jose and Stockton.

     Elton met Nettie Stinson of Turlock, CA, and spent more than 10 years with her. They would go dancing 3 to 4 times a week. He had great respect and love for her.

     Elton was preceded in death by his older brothers: Jack Miner (2015), Donald Bartel (2015), his older sister Jennie (Rados) Miner (2004), and his younger sister Elizabeth (Bartel) Kranz (2021).

     Elton is survived by his younger brother Dennis (Rusty) Bartel of Priest River, ID, and his younger sister Carol (Bartel) Donley of Placerville, CA. He is also survived by his great granddaughter Evelyn Rose Binderup of Ukiah, CA, a stepdaughter Vivian (Cauldwell) Salas of Shelbyville, TN, and stepson John Miller, of Santa Clara, CA, as well and many nieces and nephews.

     A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 9^th, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery: 490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara, CA, 95052 (408.296.3021).

     Immediately following the Graveside Services there will be a reception held at Flames Eatery: 88 South Fourth Street Unit 150, San Jose, CA, 95112 (408.971.1960).
