Obituary of Jena Rae Alleman

Nov. 26, 1936 - May 31, 2017 Jena Rae was born at the home of her parents, Joseph A. and Hilda Mae Behrendt, Thanksgiving Day 1936 in Royal Oak, Michigan where her father was employed by Reichhold Chemical Co. In 1949, her father was transferred to South San Francisco, where they lived until moving to San Carlos where she attended grade school, and graduated in the first graduating class from Carlmont High School. She began her working career at Reichhold as a bookkeeper and stayed until she met and married George “Fred” Alleman in 1960. Their daughter Sheryl Marie, was born in 1963. They eventually moved to Placerville in 1969. Jena was very active with Sheryl at Gold Trail School including Brownies and Girl Scouts. She was also very active in the Mothers Club there. Later she was employed as a teacher’s aid at Gold Trail, and worked there for 19 years. The family was able to travel to London, England, where they visited several castles, cathedrals, Stonehenge, and rode the Underground. They sailed by ship thru the Panama Canal, visited Pago Pago, American Samoa, Hawaii, and Niagara Falls, NY, and finally she saw Mount Rushmore. She and Sheryl traveled to Washington D.C. where they visited the important landmarks and took a side trip to Philadelphia to see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. In 1972, Jena, along with Erika Akin and Maria McLaury traveled to Cartigliano, Italy, the home of Maria’s family. They were also able to visit Venice while they were there. Her favorite activities were playing Bunco with her gang of players and collecting many many mail boxes. She was most proud of and cherished her grandson Hristo Longsworth. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph A Behrendt and mother Hilda Mae Behrendt. Is survived by George Fredrick Alleman, her husband of 56 years, daughter Sheryl Marie Longsworth, grandson Hristo Longsworth, brother Mike Behrendt, Mike’s life partner Sunny Mayberry, brother in-law and sister in-law Larry and Yvonne Alleman, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and BFF since grade school, Corinne Stefanski. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association or Snowline Hospice. Services will be held Aug.18, 1 P.M. at the Green Valley Church on Missouri Flat Rd.
